Public and Stakeholder Engagement

The Project will include opportunities to participate in public consultation, as well as project information and updates on progress including through this website and events.

The public are encouraged to participate in Public Consultation events which will be held at various stages throughout the project. These events are in addition to the Public Exhibition of the Scheme.

It is proposed to consult on the emerging scheme options, and to hold another Public Engagement Day once a preferred scheme has been identified and agreed with the steering group.

Public Engagement Day 1

The opening PED was held in the Mountmellick Development Agency offices, Mountmellick, on 13th November 2019 from 3pm to 8pm.

Consultation day summary report

Emerging Options Engagement Event

Laois County Council and the OPW invited residents, businesses, landowners and other interested parties to participate in the Emerging Options Engagement Event for the Mountmellick Flood Relief Scheme which was run as a virtual consulting room from 16th April to 10th May 2021.

Public Information Day

The Public Information Day (PID) was held at the Mountmellick Development Association offices, Mountmellick, on Tuesday 12th September 2023 from 3pm to 8pm.

The purpose of the day was to provide details of the proposed scheme and the project team were there to answer any questions and give you the opportunity to share your thoughts.
